It’s been almost one year since staff and families at the Stollery Children’s Hospital realized sick kids needed normalcy and routine more than they needed a break from their studies. Alberta families utilizing the Stollery Hospital will now be able to access bedside academic support for their child, as well as amazing medical care.

The Stollery program is run by Edmonton Public Schools and funded by the provincial Department of Education. Four dedicated teachers work tirelessly to help students keep learning in hopes that the children will soon rejoin their peers in traditional schools. The number of students needing bedside education can vary greatly from day to day, making this service extremely valuable, especially when patient circumstances can quickly vary and change.

After seeing great success from the program and positive feedback from staff and families, the Stollery School is now seeking funds to expand the program’s reach. The school could use two more full-time teachers to keep up with the needs of their students.
