A teenage boy is being hailed as a hero for saving a 9-year-old girl from a deadly fire in Brampton, Ont. early Tuesday morning. Nineteen-year-old Sheldon Teague saved only one person, but stated that he wished he could have saved more.


The teen heard screams from his upstairs neighbours at approximately 3:30am and realised the building was on fire. In an act of sheer bravery, Teague kicked down a door and fought through the smoke and the heat in order to rescue the young girl inside.


The teen later commented he felt compelled to try to save as many people as possible. The girl, who is now in serious but stable condition, tragically lost her mother, father and sister in the blaze.
