On January 13th, 2017, a Toronto actress named Alex Jade, saved the life of a man having a cardiac event at a GoodLife Gym in Ontario. Alex stated that after noticing the event,  staff member and bystanders did not intervene, even though GoodLife Fitness claims all employees are trained in CPR and the use of defibrillators.

Alex noticed something was amiss when a staff member carrying a defibrillator casually walked over to a man lying on the gym floor. Things became stranger as the gym staff put down the defibrillator and did not turn it on.

Thankfully, Jade was trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and quickly intervened,  helping until paramedics arrived. The man was later transported to a local hospital for surgery and credits his life to Jade’s quick intervention.

Administering CPR early or using a defibrillator can increase a person’s chance of survival by 75 per cent.
