We all know Bill Gates is worth billions, but soon he may be worth trillions, according to a report from Oxfam.

Gates competes with 793 billionaires worldwide, with a total net worth of $2.4 trillion as of 2009. With an annual growth of 11%, this number could very well balloon to $5 trillion.  “If these returns continue, it is quite possible that we could see the world’s first trillionaire within 25 years,” the report states.

Gates, who is worth an estimated $84.7 billion currently, might not be so pleased with attaining the status of trillionaire. After leaving Microsoft in 2006, he’s devoted most of his time to charitable endeavors, mainly accomplished through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

It is important to note that according to Oxfam, eight billionaires have as much money as the 3.6 billion people who make up the poorest half of the world’s population.
